I ripped my pants
Hi everyone!
This week went by super fast, I can't believe it's Monday already. I had to look back in the area book and my journal to even remember what happened haha.
We had a lesson this week with a lady who lives on a farm and she asked if we could help her feed her animals. So we helped her feed her goats, cows, donkeys, chickens, cats and dogs. But she asked me to lift something kinda heavy and when I bent down to pick it up, my pants ripped! Thankfully we were able to finish the lesson and she wants us to come back! I was glad me ripping my pants didn't scare her away. But since then the song "I ripped my pants" from SpongeBob has been stuck in my head. My companion has never seen SpongeBob so he didn't know the song which was sad.
On Tuesday we had the "Doctrine of Christ" experience. Which is for new missionaries and their trainers. The mission president, his wife and the APs go over the doctrine of Christ and then talk about how we can apply it in our own lives and also help others do the same. One thing we did during the experience was called the altar of sacrifice. It sounds kinda weird but basically we wrote down what things we would sacrifice during our mission to help missionary work and also what talents we have that we can use to help missionary work. I was able to come up with some ideas about how I could use things like 3d printing in missionary work. We also took time to sit on the temple grounds and think about how we want to look back and remember our missions and set goals. It was a cool experience.
This week was a lot of knocking on doors and trying to talk to old contacts and getting told to go away, but one cool thing I've noticed this week is how much I've begun to really love the Book of Mormon. Before my mission I'd say that I knew the Book of Mormon was true because of experiences I've had reading it, but I didn't really actually know it that well. But now as I have the chance to study it everyday I feel like I'm getting to know it better and my appreciation and testimony of it keeps growing too!
We have also been given an insane amount of fruits and vegetables from members this week. Lots of people here have gardens and they give us lots of their extra produce. They're so nice!
They finished building a dollar general in Burbank recently and it seems like everyone we talk to is mad about it because it means that Burbank is getting too big haha. There's a gas station and dollar general in Burbank, that's it. The nearest Walmart is about 30 minutes away.
It have been super smokey the past couple of weeks but just recently it has started to clear up which is awesome!
Hope everyone is going good
