Conference and Quarantine
Hi everyone!
This week started off with a pretty cool miracle!
When p-day was over, we had some people we were going to stop by and visit with; but when I was on the phone with my parents I felt like we should go and see how a lady we know named Patty is doing. As it got closer, I was thinking maybe we don't need to go by today, we can go by another day. Well pretty soon after I started thinking that, it started to rain; and the last time it had rained in Burbank we were talking to Patty. So I was like okay it looks like we should go see Patty tonight.
She was on the opposite side of Burbank, but we talked about it as a companionship and decided to stop by Patty’s house. When we got there Patty wasn't home, but her son was. He lives in Richland and used to meet with missionaries there and really liked it. He also told us how that day he was cleaning out a shed and a Book of Mormon fell out and he started to think about how the missionaries hadn't been by recently. He just “happened” to be at his Mom’s house that night. He doesn't even live in Burbank but the Lord still allowed us to talk to him and encourage him to start meeting with missionaries again. There are definitely no coincidences in life. The same day I felt like we needed to talk to Patty, her son finds a Book of Mormon in his shed and it is raining just like the last time we were at Patty's!
We were also asked as a companionship to give a training to the missionaries in the Pasco zone about being normal and natural in interacting with people. That was terrifying but I think it went good and am very glad it's over.
Another highlight of the week was when me and Elder Peterson made a noodle-wienie-dog. It's just a hot dog we shoved a bunch of pasta into then boiled it. We also put blue food coloring in the water so the pasta was blue. I forgot to take a picture but I'll let you imagine how beautiful a hotdog with blue pasta sticking out of it is. It looked kinda like those pictures of bacteria with the flagella and stuff you see in science textbooks.
And last but not least, General Conference was this week! We were gonna watch it with the people we're teaching but Elder Peterson got sick so we just watched it by ourselves. It was still really good though. It is so cool to be able to listen to a prophet of God and His Apostles. There was so much specific guidance…for me, our companionship and the people we are teaching. I love how the speakers talked about how there is nothing too big or too small to turn over to Jesus Christ…his healing power is enough for everything in our life. Whatever we're struggling with if we will turn to Christ he will help us; because He loves us and knows exactly what it is like to be us and to struggle like us. No matter how small the problem may be or how big it may seem, He can help us.
Elder Peterson might have COVID-19 so we're in quarantine until we get the test results back. So hopefully he'll get better soon and we can start to go out and talk to people again. I never though I would say I miss knocking on random doors but right now I do. Last night we called so many people and none of them answered. Fun times!
Love y’all
Elder Lowry
